I was in middle school when I first read The Dreaming Tree by C.J. Cherryh. The story of Arafrael and her dying world struck me, and years later I went back to it to create this Arafrael’s Glamour illustration for one of my illustration classes while I was in art school. It’s an old piece now (2004 perhaps?), but there is a quality that shines through all the flaws that I now see, and she still holds a special place in my heart. Part of me wants to revisit the idea with the skills I have since honed, but only if I can recreate the emotion that goes with it. :)
I currently have two versions of this illustartion available in pendant form, the 30x40mm oval ($13.50 shipped usps domestic) and the 30mmm round ($12.50 shipped usps domestic). This is the oldest of my illustrations in my pendant collection, and definitely the most bittersweet.
These pendants are a part of the December Deliver presale I’m hosting through my FB Illustration Fan Page. I have many other designs to choose from and will be taking orders until October 31st or I reach 100 pendant orders. All images and photos are my own as I believe in only overworking and underpaying myself. Profits will aid this struggling (but stubbornly persistent) artist pay down her Sallie Mae debts. ^_^
